Massey University Student Amenities

Jacobsens were able to offer a solution for the design brief requiring large format tiles, 500mm high, and up to 2200mm long.  The Moeding Longoton system was the product of choice because of this and also as it can be used in large soffitt areas, making it unique in the terracotta cladding market.  While modern in design, the Amenities building fits in with Massey University's other buildings and their distinctive terracotta roofs.  The Longoton colour used was Bordeaux Red.  The front of the building used the 50 x 50mm square hollow Baguette shade profile system which is mounted to a custom carrier system manufactured by Miller Design. The baguettes are sleeved on an aluminium rail and gasket system which provides mounting brackets to the main structure. Numerous profiles are available as well as custom shapes from Moeding.

Stage I was completed in 2011 and Stage II in 2013.  Part of the requirement for this project was that the tiles manufactured had to be identical in shade and colour even with the two year gap.  Moeding were able to refer to batch records and repeat the exact formula producing identical tiles for stage I and stage II.
